About the Storage Challenge

Allia Future Business Centre is located in Cambridge and consist of a single office building. The building has a 30-kWpeak PV-installation which is located on the building’s roof.

The electrical loads of the buildings are the internal office and laboratory usage. Consequently, the general energy demand is higher during working hours. There is no storage technology installed at the moment.

Allia Future Business Centre has the goal to reduce its CO2 emission. Therefore, it intends to install an energy storage solution (e.g. battery storage) which increases the self-consumption of onsite renewable energy generated by their PV installation.

Additionally, Allia is willing to participate in the energy markets with the energy storage solution to increase the value of their PV system and the energy storage system. This could allow Allia to economically extend their PV installation capacity in the future. The electricity connection of the business centre can be used to leverage on the storage and access energy markets and ancillary services.
